Intel's Chip Factory In Germany Will Be The First To Produce Chips With The 1.5nm Process

Various processing chip manufacturers such as TSMC, Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron and so on are seen to have started testing their latest semiconductor chip manufacturing technology, and Intel is not far behind in doing the same.

Recently, at the World Economic Forum event in Davos, Switzerland, Pat Gelsinger, CEO of Intel has confirmed that their upcoming plant in Magdeburg, Germany will not only develop semiconductor chips using the latest post-18A process, but will also be a manufacturer of Intel semiconductor chips. the most advanced in the world.

"The Intel plant in Magdeburg will not only be the most advanced Intel semiconductor production plant in Europe, but also in the world when it is completed with semiconductor chip production technology such as the 1.5mm process." said Pat Gelsinger.

The 18A process is currently Intel's <2.0nm semiconductor chip production process, so for the Magdeburg factory, it is expected that it will at least come with the ability to manufacture semiconductor chips with a 1.5nm process.

Intel is also expected to show a roadmap for the development of their semiconductor chip production technology by the end of February 2024, and this will show details about upcoming processes such as 16A and 14A and also which factories will start using this technology to develop chips- upcoming Intel processing chips and also Intel Foundry customers.

The Magdeburg Intel factory is expected to be operational around the middle or end of 2027.
