The Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil has now shared that the 5G network coverage rate in populated areas in Malaysia has already exceeded the 80% target set last year.
According to the data, the 5G coverage rate has reached 80.2% of populated areas on 31 December 2023. This sharing comes in line with yesterday's announcement by the minister saying there will be no additional charges for users to access the 5G network.
Previously also, it was shared which 5G network infrastructure provider company will be established after the coverage rate reaches 80%. With this latest achievement, the Minister is expected to announce the transition to a 5G dual-network model soon.
