Lenovo and Motorola brands are not very popular in the smartphone market. This may be because they are not so focused on the extensive and limited market in a few selected countries only. For example, Lenovo in China and Motorola in America. CNBC reports that Lenovo wants to make Motorola one of the world's largest device manufacturers.
Their target is that within 3 years, Motorola can become the third largest manufacturer competing with Samsung and Apple. Last year in the third quarter, Lenovo and Motorola only held around 4% of the mobile device market. To become the largest manufacturer, they aim to hold 10% of the device market in countries that offer Motorola products until stable.
Lenovo's President of International Markets, Matthew Zielinski stated that the Razr series is their device trying to compete with other premium devices. Zielinski also told that India is one of the most strategic countries for developing Motorola's market. Hopefully the Razr device will be offered in Malaysia one day.
