The New York Times, one of the most popular newspapers and publications in the United States, has now filed a lawsuit against Microsoft and OpenAI. According to the New York Times, both parties have violated copyright and also used various contents of the publication in developing OpenAI and Microsoft's artificial intelligence model.
According to the New York Times, they have tried to negotiate with both parties for a fair value for the use of the content, but have failed to reach an agreement. Microsoft and OpenAI also did not ask for any permission or consent in training their models using New York Times content.
For now, the New York Times has just filed the same and it will take some time before it is heard. Whatever the outcome of the court's decision involving this case will be one of the starting points in the use of content to train artificial intelligence by various parties today.
