OnePlus 12 Chinese Version Cellular Function Also Turned Off In Malaysia

Last year, OnePlus did something that no one expected to happen because after almost 10 years in the market – it was the first time they did it. The cellular function of OnePlus 11 imported set (China) is turned off in 42 countries including Malaysia.

This is done to prevent people from buying imported OnePlus sets which are usually sold cheaper than official sets in their respective countries. Most recently, the same has been done on the recently launched OnePlus 12. In my monitoring, some Chinese set sellers in Malaysia also offer this cellular unlocking service. Meaning, once again Malaysia is among the affected countries.

Last year there was a simple workaround where users could contact the OnePlus customer care center to get the unlock code for this cellular function. With OnePlus in Malaysia once rejecting the eligibility to claim import set warranty, getting this code in Malaysia may be impossible other than asking the seller from China to unlock the cellular before the device is sent to the user.

OnePlus 12 in Malaysia will be sold from 3 February at a price of RM4599. The official selling price is seen to be almost RM1000 more expensive than the import set and many fans in Malaysia have started to complain and start looking for the import set.
