RED Launches Two V-Raptor (X) Cameras With Global Shutter Sensors

RED has launched two new cameras with global shutter sensors, the RED V-Raptor (X) and the RED V-Raptor (X) XL. Both are designed for professional video recording purposes. Both cameras have different body sizes but share a 35.4-Megapixel V-Raptor (X) 8K VV CMOS sensor. This sensor is 40.96 x 21.6 mm larger than the Sony a9 III sensor of 36 x 24mm which is the world's first CMOS global shutter sensor camera.

The camera can record 8K 17:9 video at 120 FPS in REDCODE RAW Max format. Video at 2K 2.4:1 resolution is increased to an extreme rate of 600 FPS. Apple ProRes recording format support is also included.

The difference between RED V-Raptor (X) and RED V-Raptor (X) XL lies in size and features. The RED V-Raptor (X) XL is larger and heavier (3.6 vs 1.8 kg) but has a built-in ND filter. It also has multi-lens support with interchangeable mounts.

The sale price of the RED V-Raptor (X) is $29,995 (~RM141,801) while the RED V-Raptor (X) XL is $44,995 (~RM 212,713) only for the body without any lens.
