Samsung Galaxy S24 And S24+ Launched With Exynos 2400 And Built-in AI – Starting Price RM4099

The Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ were launched at the Galaxy Unpacked event in San Jose this morning. As expected, the S24 and S24+ are again offered to the Malaysian market using the Eyxnos 2400 chip which is in the same class as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy which is only given on the S24 Ultra this year.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 is equipped with a 6.2″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X FHD+ screen of the LTPO type that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. This year the screen brightness reaches 2600 nits which is higher than 1750 nits in last year's model. The bezel on the screen is also thinner. The screens on all three S24 models this year are the same, resolving last year's complaints where only the Ultra model was of the LTPO type.

The Exynos 2400 chip is matched with 8GB LPDDR5X RAM, up to 256 UFS 4.0 storage and a 4000 mAh battery. Charging is now 45W wired and 15W wirelessly supporting the Qi format. Another improvement over last year is only up to 25W charging on the S23.

The main camera consists of a 50MP wide-angle lens, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10MP telephoto. Meanwhile, on the front, a 12MP sensor is used for selfies. No changes have been made to the camera configuration compared to last year.

The Samsung Galaxy S24+ is equipped with a 6.7″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ screen of the LTPO type that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. Again the screen is the same on all three models. The Exynos 2400 chip is matched with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, up to 512 UFS 4.0 storage and a 4900 mAh battery. Charging is now 45W wired and 15W wirelessly supporting the Qi format.

The camera is also the same, which is a 50MP wide-angle lens, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 10MP telephoto. Meanwhile, on the front, a 12MP sensor is used for selfies.

This year's focus is entirely on software. First of all, all Samsung Galaxy S24 series devices will be supported with seven versions of Android updates and seven years of security patches comparable to those offered on the Google Pixel 8 series.

The ability of intelligence has become a bestseller under the umbrella of Galaxy AI. Features such as Call Assist, Chat Assist, and Note Assist use AI built into the device allowing it to function without internet or data being processed in the cloud. Call Assist can translate phone calls in real time while Chat Assist can translate text and change the writing style.

Circle to Search with Google

Image editing with the help of AI is also provided which facilitates the process of deleting objects, shadows and reflections on mirrors. The Circle Search with Google feature allows image searches to be performed directly on any screen without taking a screenshot first. These two features require an internet connection to work.

In terms of hardware, it must be admitted that not many improvements have been made to the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+. Samsung's focus this year is on software that makes these two devices look like Google Pixels with many of the same AI features.

In Malaysia, Samsung Galaxy S24 pre-orders open today with a selling price of RM4099 for 12/256GB, RM4599 for 8/512GB in seven color options. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ is sold at a price of RM4899 for (12/256GB) and RM5399 for 12/512GB.
