The uproar came after Samsung confirmed seven years of update support starting with the Samsung Galaxy 24 series devices. Samsung will offer updates to seven Android versions and security patch updates for seven years. This puts Samsung's software support on par with what's offered on the iPhone and Google's Pixel 8 series.
Previously Samsung was the first among Android manufacturers to offer four Android version updates and five years of security patches. It is not only offered on the Galaxy S and Galaxy Z flagship devices, but also on the more affordable Galaxy A series.
With this longer software support, Samsung devices can be used for a longer period. No more worries about security vulnerabilities that could cause losses to owners. It can be seen this year that Samsung's updates are the fastest among Android manufacturers. This may challenge other manufacturers to also follow in the footsteps of Samsung and Google in the near future.
