Steam Is No Longer Supported On Windows 7 And Windows 8.1

Last year we reported that Steam would end support for their application on computers running Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. As of yesterday January 1, 2024, Steam will no longer support any application updates including security patches for these three operating systems.

Steam expects their apps and games to still be able to run normally, but there's no guarantee until when. Users are also encouraged to update their computers to Windows 10 and above because future updates only have feature updates offered on these two newer operating systems. In addition, important features in Steam also depend on the latest Google Chrome only.

For information, Microsoft has already ended support for Winndows 7 and Windows 8.1 since January last year. If you still use these two operating systems, the risk of security vulnerabilities is high.
