Microsoft WordPad was introduced in Windows 95 as software that allows opening doc, .rtf, and even .txt files. WordPad support has been discontinued since September 2023 and now the Windows Insider Blog announced a new update of Windows 11 will completely remove WordPad.
For now, WordPad will only be removed in Windows 11 Insider build 26020. In addition to WordPad, the People contact app will also be removed. WordPad is not only removed but Microsoft also does not allow users to reinstall it. This 29-year-old typing software has finally met its demise.
For those still using WordPad, review your files and change them to other formats that are still supported by Windows 11 such as *.pdf, *.docx and others.
