The WWE Network streaming service will shut down at the end of 2024 with all content moving to its new home on Netflix. The announcement comes days after WWE selected Netflix as the official streaming channel for the weekly WWE Raw series exclusively in several markets such as the United States.
Under a deal involving $5 billion over 10 years, Netflix is breaking into the sports streaming arena after dabbling with streaming comedies and later the Screen Actors' Guild awards. At this point the transfer of WWE Network content to Netflix is only for global users. In the United States, it will remain on Peacock until the end of 2026.
Just a few years ago Netflix denied that they wanted to enter the arena of offering live sports events but after seeing the success of the show Drive To Survive, Tour De France and several other sports-based content, it is clear that there is a high demand among viewers.
