Yesterday Xiaomi unveiled their first electric car, the SU7, which is said to have a driving experience like a Porsche Taycan Turbo. Today the Xiaomi SU7 was officially launched as their first electric vehicle (EV).
SU7 is a sedan in the C-class that uses luxury car design. For example, lamps with the Matrix ADB system as well as dynamic LED lamps with a futuristic design. In the cockpit there is a 16.1-inch screen for car control, two screens in the back for passengers, and a windshield with a HUD system. The seats use nappa leather and the steering wheel is made of carbon fiber.
The "brain" of this car uses two NVIDIA Drive Orin with the power of 508 TOPS, matched with various sensors, cameras, LiDAR, as well as software systems developed by Xiaomi. Xiaomi SU7 can accelerate to 100 km/h in 2.87 seconds with a maximum speed of 265 km/h. The Xiaomi Super Motor V6 electric motor can reach 673 horsepower and 838Nm of torque. The brake system is a 4-piston Brembo type with Bosch technology.
The battery power is 800v which can be driven up to 800km CLTS. Xiaomi SU7 also offers three motor options which are Super Motor V6 299 PS, 200kW, 400Nm, 400v), Super Motor V6s (374 PS, 275kW, 500Nm, 800v) and Super Motor V8 which reaches 27,2000 rpm and 425kW. The battery system used is also equipped with a cooling pad to ensure the battery does not heat up during charging and is safe for long-term driving.
This car is also a self-driving car with the Xiaomi Pilot system that uses its own algorithms and artificial intelligence. The pilot of this car is said to be able to drive by itself such as accelerating, overtaking other cars safely, avoiding obstacles and much more. There is also a special mode for driving in the city that can stop itself at traffic lights, drive slowly to give space to pedestrians, signal itself when turning or even drive like a camper when traffic is congested.
Last but not least is Xiaomi Smart Cockpit which uses HyperOS. This standalone operating system can do multi-tasking, customization, live screen when detecting the driver's presence. The Xiaomi Smart Cockpit also supports smartphone connectivity for a user-friendly ecosystem.
At the time this article was written, Xiaomi still did not share any sales price yet, only offered in two models namely SU7 and SU7 Max. Based on the specifications shared, the SU7 is seen as a Tesla Model X challenger.
