I still don't agree that generative AI services can be a substitute for virtual assistants like Siri and Google Assistant. This is because AIs that are easily accessible to everyone such as Bard, ChatGPT, Copilot and others still have limited functions such as not being able to control device settings or Internet of Things devices.
ChatGPT believes they can be a replacement for Alexa or Google Assistant because it can eventually become the main virtual assistant in Android devices. Recently, Mishaal Rahman shared that the ChatGPT application now supports tiles on the notification tray of Android devices. This indirectly allows users to access ChatGPT faster to continue using voice commands. In addition to being able to access this AI in any application that is currently open.
This new feature of ChatGPT is only available in beta version 1.2024.018 application. In my experiments, it was still unstable with frequent disconnections. You can download this app on Play Store or APK file here.
