You Can Now Give Control of Apple Music Playlists to Other Users

Apple Music is still not quite as popular as Spotify. It doesn't have a user-friendly enough interface and lacks many interesting features/functions compared to Spotify. Most recently, Apple tried to follow Spotify's strategy by including the Collaborative Playlists feature.

This feature allows one to invite friends, family or loved ones to access and control their own playlists. They can add songs, change the rules, react with emojis or even change the thumbnail image. Each shared playlist also has music suggestions that can be added. Apple does not disclose the limit of participants who can collaborate with a single playlist.

This feature is similar to Spotify Jam which supports up to 32 people for one playlist. To use the Collaborative Playlists feature you need an Apple Music subscription. Then select one of the playlists in the library, press the little human icon with the “+” above, press “Start Collaboration” and share the link to others. Each

Users can also approve who can access a playlist, if the shared link is shared with many people. This feature is available in iOS 17.3 which also supports Stolen Device Protection. Apple Music can be subscribed for as low as RM8.90 per month for students and RM16.90 per month for individuals.
