AI Glasses "Frame" Launched

After Humane AI and Rabbit R1 are among the generative AI physical devices that are getting a lot of attention. Embedding generative AI systems in physical devices is a new trend. Coming up is “Orb” by Midjourney. The question is whether this physical AI device is as practical as the Galaxy AI on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series? Most recently, Brilliant Labs has come up with Frame, which is AI glasses.

Frame AI Glasses are sold at a price of $349 which is around RM1668 a pair. It uses an AI system trained by the OpenAI language model. It works like a Ray-Ban Meta, where the camera can see and understand the context for the user's prom, then there is a microphone for the user to give voice commands (OpenAI Whisper) or do translation and also has a speaker.

The uniqueness of these glasses compared to Ray-Ban Meta is that one of the lenses has a micro OLED screen. Brilliant Labs managed to integrate this display prism directly into the eyeglass lens. The content of the display can only be seen from about 20 degrees up, but they are confident that it is enough and allows the user to see as if on the entire lens.

For charging, Frame uses Mister Power, which is a charger that looks like a nose that can then be connected with a USB-C cable. The AI system on Frame is also made open source on GitHub. Frame can also be controlled with the Noa application.
