Airless Basketball Now Sold At Almost RM12,000

Balls used in soccer, basketball, handball and many other sports have the disadvantage that they need to be pumped up regularly. If there is a lack of wind, it cannot be used well by athletes. To solve this issue, Wilson has developed several prototype basketballs without wind. They are now ready to offer it to interested buyers at a price of $2500 (~RM11,955) each.

The Wilson Airless Gen1 basketball looks normal except it has hundreds of holes on the surface. It is produced using 3D printing techniques. Despite not being windy, Wilson says it provides the same bounce experience as a conventional ball. Several prototypes for the Airless Gen1 have been used in previous NBA All Star games.

The high selling price is charged because it will also be offered in a limited number of 75 in black, 50 in brown and 25 in white.
