Apple Continues to Use Qualcomm Modems Until 2027

Qualcomm announced their financial report for Q1 2024 today and confirmed Apple continued licensing their modem technology until 2027. The agreement between Apple and Qualcomm was originally due to end in 2026 when they are believed to start using their own modems.

But as previously reported, Apple's program to produce its own modem faced some issues and it is believed to have been halted. Apple took over Intel's modem business in 2019 solely to produce designer modems.

Apple and Qualcomm's relationship is now on the mend after several years of suing each other over modern patents for smart devices. Apple later agreed to settle the case out of court and pay for a license to use Qualcomm's proprietary modem technology.
