Apple Introduces PQ3 Cryptographic Protocol For iMessage

End-to-end encryption ensures that any message sent will be encrypted making it unreadable if intercepted. But there are various commercial spyware as well as those used by national intelligence agencies that can allegedly break current encryption systems. Apple today announced the new PQ3 cryptographic protocol for iMesssage.

According to Apple PQ3 is the most secure system used on messaging services as it passes the level 3 security standard. PQ3 is a post-quantum cryptographic protocol that makes it difficult to decrypt even using a quantum computer. This is like the encryption system used by the National Digital Identity.

PQ3 will be coming to iMessage via iOS 17.4, iPadOS 17.4, macOS 14.4, and watchOS 10.4 updates next month.
