BYD Yangwang U9 was launched yesterday as BYD's first high-performance electric car. This car is equipped with four motors with 1287 horsepower. With the Yangwang U9, BYD wants to compete with the high-performance EVs produced by Porsche and Tesla.
It can accelerate from 0-100 kmh in 2.36 seconds and travel at a maximum speed of 309 km/h despite the total weight of the vehicle reaching 2,475 kg. The 80-kWh battery can provide a travel distance of up to 450 km CLTC. Charging from 30-80% can be done in just 10 minutes through the 800V charging system.
Another ability of this supercar is that it can do a local 360 turn and move laterally like a crab. The U9 active float system also allows the vehicle to still be used even if only 3 out of 4 tires can be used. It can also be programmed to make the U9 dance and jump.
On the inside of the cockpit there are two LCD screens. One is 10.25″ used by the driver and the other is 12.3″ for passengers mounted vertically. In China BYD Yangwang U9 is sold at a starting price of RMB 1,680,000 (~RM 1,115,277).
