DALL-E 3 Generated Images Will Also Use C2PA Watermarks

OpenAI is another company that will start supporting the C2PA watermark system that will facilitate the process of identifying images generated by generative AI. The company says images generated through ChatGPT and APIs using DALL-E 3 will have embedded image data and watermarks that cannot be seen by the human eye.

When image identity verification software is used, all information about when the image was generated and the artificial intelligence used can be easily obtained. The CR icon which is an image marker supporting C2PA authentication can also be clearly seen. The OpenAI announcement came on the same day Meta said they would begin labeling AI-generated images in Facebook, Instagram and Threads

The Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) is a joint effort of Adobe, Microsoft, Nikon, Leica, Camera Bits, Truepic, and more to create standards for identifying digitally manipulated images since 2020.
