There is an uproar on some social media claiming that Google will shut down Gmail from August 2024. This is not true at all and is a misunderstanding of some users who were warned by Google. The only thing that will be discontinued is Gmail basic HTML (Gmail basic HTML) which uses the original design of the service launched in 2024.
Google will simply no longer support this version. Users will be automatically switched to the Gmail Standard View version after this to provide an experience more consistent with modern needs. All this time Gmail basic HTML has been maintained for those who are more comfortable with a more basic interface or disabled users of screen reader software that only supports the HTML version
