Dubai Will Have Flying Taxi Service Starting 2025

The capital that is said to be in the future was New York, then Tokyo, Shenzen and now moved to Dubai. In a few years it will move to Neom. But until that happens, Dubai will continue to be the prototype city of the future. As early as next year, it will start having its own flying taxi service.

Joby Aviation received a license to offer flying taxi services in Dubai from 2025 exclusively for six years. Joby Aero's eVTOL taxi can carry four passengers and a pilot. Four airport taxi stands will be opened at Dubai International Airport (DXB), Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, and Dubai Downtown.

Traveling from DXB by flying taxi to the city center will only take 10 minutes compared to 45 minutes by car. Each taxi can fly up to 250 km with a maximum speed of 322 kmh. Joby was chosen even though Volocopter was the first company to test pilot in Dubai in 2017.

In addition to Dubai, Joby will also offer flying taxis in South Korea with an agreement made with SK Telecom two years ago. When the service in Korea will start has not yet been announced.
