Actress Gina Carano filed a lawsuit against Disney following her dismissal from The Mandalorian series in 2021. She who played the role of Cara Dune was fired due to a status she uploaded causing controversy on various social media sites. What makes his case unique is that the legal costs to fight Disney are funded by Elon Musk.
Last year Musk said he would fund the legal costs of any X user who lost their job because of a status uploaded on the site. According to Musk, this is his effort to ensure that the right to free speech enshrined in the United States constitution is respected.
Carano was fired after uploading an allegedly anti-semitic status. Before that he also caused controversy after belittling the dangers of the pandemic. As a result, he was warned to be more careful on social media. In addition to being fired from The Mandalorian, Carano was also fired from the series Rangers of the New Republic which made Cara Dune the main character.
