Working as a writer often takes me abroad. Although it's fun to be in someone else's country because you get to see different cultures, beautiful scenery and more. One constraint I faced was speaking the language.
When I go to China or Barcelona, many people don't really understand English. I feel very grateful when the Samsung Galaxy S24 series was launched for having a built-in generative AI feature – Galaxy AI. Through it I can use Chat Assist for Chat Translation, Writing Style, Spelling and Grammar or even change voice to text from English to another language.
Chat Translation
Usually when I go abroad for any launch, a WhatsApp group is set up. In this chat group there will be representatives of brands from abroad who often share texts in foreign languages. To understand the received text, I need to copy and paste in the translation application. If I want to reply, I have to type in the translation app then copy and open WhatsApp to send it.
Now with Chat Translation, I can continue to understand the messages sent because they are automatically translated. Not only that, when I want to reply it's very easy to just press an icon and directly enter the text it will be translated automatically. Since these few weeks, I often communicate with friends in a foreign language because it also gives me another conversational experience.
Interpreter - Translate "Chat" In The Real World
Someone asked me, "don't you use WhatsApp all the way abroad and not chat face to face?". Of course, in addition to chatting in foreign countries, sometimes even buying food in a store is difficult. So Samsung also includes an Interpreter for chatting in the real world.
Scroll down the notification tray, press the Interpreter icon, press the microphone icon and I can continue to speak in English for it to be automatically translated into 17 different languages. Then what is replied back is all automated and processed at a fast enough rate to keep things running smoothly.
Writing Sylla
If I am not traveling to another country, I will often communicate with clients through messaging applications. When I'm tired from working from writing all day, it's hard for me to think more creatively – so I'll use Writing Style by only including important context for my rewritten text to be better.
For example it can be rewritten to sound more professional so it's more pleasant to listen to. Other options are casual if you just want to say hi or joke, Emojify to automatically match text with emoji that match the context and more. My favorite Abtara is the social media mode where my text will be accompanied by hashtags that I never thought of myself.
Spelling and Grammar
The Galaxy AI on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series can also be an "educational tool", again with Chat Assist that can help improve my grammar and spelling. Just like the situation above, when I'm tired but there is an important message that needs to be answered, sometimes it's not just creative sentences that I can't produce but the spelling can also be wrong. Spelling and Grammar helps me check the best grammar and spelling before text is sent. This feature can then also be combined with Writing Style and Chat Translation earlier.
