Google announced the Gemma AI model produced specifically for open source AI research and development. It is offered in two versions namely Gemma 2B and Gemma 7B which allows it to be run directly from a laptop or desktop.
It was developed by the DeepMind team with the same process used for the development of Gemini. Gemma is accessible through Kaggle, Hugging Face, Nvidia NeMo, and Google's Vertex. Google has worked with NVIDIA to ensure that Gemma is optimized for use with the company's GPUs. At the same time the development kit is provided by Google to ensure that the AI developed using Gemma has security barriers.
