Gundam Factory In Yokohama To Be Closed This April

Gundam Factory Yokohama is a tourist attraction especially among fans of the Mobile Suit Gundam anime series. Visitors have been able to see for themselves a full-scale Gundam RX78-2 moving as if it were a real robot since it opened in 2020. After nearly four years, Gundam Factory Yokohama was announced to close on April 1st.

The last tickets have gone on sale in Japan with the deadline to visit Gundam Factory Yokohama being March 31. Actually Gundam Factory Yokohama was originally only going to operate for a few months. But the pandemic and an overwhelming response from fans caused its closure to be postponed until this year.

It is still unknown what will happen to the Gundam RX78-2 robot when the attraction closes. There are suggestions among fans to open the Gundam Factory in other locations in Japan or take it on a worldwide tour for those who don't have time to go to Japan.
