KDN Monitors Quran Applications That Do Not Receive Approval

Did you know that the Al Quran application cannot be published in Malaysia arbitrarily? This is because the publication of holy books in Malaysia is subject to the Al-Quran Text Printing Act (APTQ) 1986 which requires approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN). For this reason, the KDN is currently monitoring the publication of Al Quran applications for smart devices that do not receive their approval.

So far only the Smart Quran application has been approved by KDN. Without approval the application can cause concern because of the possible confusion that may be caused. The Smart Quran application was developed in collaboration with the KDN, and also received approval from JAKIM, in addition to being registered with SKMM.

There are some Quran applications developed by local development that have not yet received approval and some have not even submitted a direct application. KDN added that so far 966 types of Al Quran including electronic versions have been approved for sale and distribution in Malaysia.
