Meta is ready to invest heavily in the augmented-reality arena through their Quest offering, in addition to the development of its own metacity world. With Apple joining the same arena, now Meta is seen moving forward and aiming to introduce a high-powered augmented-reality headset.
Meta is expected to work with LG for the purpose of developing the headset, and aims for an introduction in early 2025. According to early reports, there is a possibility that LG's expertise in hardware development along with the webOS operating system will be used in the development of this new headset.
In addition to LG and Meta, a number of parties are also looking at the same arena, including Samsung and Google. Maybe we'll see some healthy competition in the augmented-reality arena in a year or two.
