Modern EV cars are large in size because to travel long distances, large battery packs are needed. This is an issue in countries like Japan and Europe that have small roads. The Microlino Lite was just launched at the Geneva Motor Show with it being a compact EV aimed at urban use.
Each Microlino Lite can only carry two passengers. With a length of 2.5 meters and a width of 1.5 meters, it is indeed designed for use in European cities with narrow lanes. With a 6kW motor, it can also only travel at a maximum speed of 45 km/h. Meanwhile, the 5.5kW battery only offers a trip of around 100 km. This is not an issue as the Microlino Lite will only be used in urban areas.
In Europe it is classified as a scooter and therefore can be driven by individuals aged 14 and over who hold a scooter licence. This EV cannot be purchased but instead subscribed monthly for a fee of €156 (~RM808) which provides a rental of 5000 km per year.
