This year, the Samsung Galaxy S24 series has become an alternative to the Google Pixel for the global market. Samsung focuses on software by bringing interesting generative AI features and up to 7 years of update support. Recently OnePlus in China also started offering generative AI features to their devices.
The new ColorOS 14 update that the OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 12 received has brought three interesting generative AI features. First is the AI Summariser, which generates a transcript of the phone call by extracting the time, location and important information (a simpler version of Call Assist). Second is AIGC Remover, which can remove unwanted objects in a picture (like Photo Assist). The third is Article Summariser, which can summarize an article with just one click.
OnePlus also introduced a feature like Circle to Search with Google through Breeno Touch that can search for content related to the content displayed on the screen. Since ColorOS and OxygenOS use the same build code, it is not impossible for OnePlus to bring the same update to their global version of the device.
Now OnePlus only needs to offer up to 7 years of software updates and security to really compete with Samsung. Would you use the OnePlus AI feature if it was offered to your OnePlus 11 or OnePlus 12?
