PADU Denies Database Hacked By R00tk1t

Earlier this February, Malaysians were shocked by the announcement from hacker group R00tk1t that they had successfully hacked the PADU database, although it was later confirmed that it was actually stolen from the National Population and Development Board (LPPKN).

Recently, R00tk1t said that they still managed to steal Padu data, and took screenshots containing personal information about Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli contained in the PADU database.

In fact, the hacker group said that they will start bidding for this PADU data at a starting price of $50 thousand (~RM240 thousand) for anyone interested in buying it.

However, PADU has also released a statement saying that R00tk1t's claim that they have a copy of their database is false, and to not believe the hacker group. In fact, the screenshots shown are not available from the PADU database.

Interestingly, so far no party has said anything about the 27TB database that was hacked by the same group before, except for Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo saying that his ministry is investigating this incident, and will issue a statement about it in the near future.
