Finally, after being announced in 2019 and sold in selected countries in 2022 – the Playdate console can now be purchased in Malaysia. This console is under Panic Inc. which is the developer behind Untitled Goose Game. Playdate is also produced in the Kedah, Malaysia factory. As reported last week, today February 13 the Playdate site has listed Malaysia as a supported country.

Playdate is seen to offer only one color, which is yellow. It is constructed of plastic and also has a crank for control. This console is designed by Teenage Engineering, using a high contrast 400 × 240 pixel 1-bit monochrome screen without any backlight (backlight), there is a directional control, two A and B buttons, a power button on the surface of the console. It also has Bluetooth and WiFi support, mono speaker, microphone, 16MB RAM memory and 4GB internal storage, powered by a 168 MHz Cortex M7 chip and 8 hours of battery via USB-C charging.
For games, Playdate has its own store called Catalog. Two official games will be given away for free every week for 12 weeks. The price is quite expensive compared to the Nintendo Switch which can already be obtained at a price of around RM700 to RM800.
