At MWC Barcelona, Qualcomm launched their latest mobile device modem Snapdrgaon X80 5G which they say is the most advanced modem on the market. With the help of built-in AI, X80 5G offers faster connection to the network.
It is also the first modem to support the NB-NTN satellite communication system built into the same package. This is in contrast to last year's Snapdragon X75 where the Snapdragon Satellite communication system was an external external component. Although Qualcomm and Iridium's partnership ended last year, they still include Snapdragon Satellite support.
The AI Suite Gen 3 system according to Qualcomm will strengthen the connection to the network and the accuracy of tracking the location for the GPS system. At the same time it can offer power consumption savings of up to 10% when using mmWave networks and improve location tracking accuracy by up to 30%. Qualcomm Snapdragon X80 5G will start to be used in devices released in H2 2024.
