Hacker group R00TK1T is back with a threat to reveal the data of users in Malaysia that they managed to steal. Almost two weeks ago they claimed to have successfully stolen Maxis customer information. Most recently, the group of hackers claimed to have successfully stolen the data of the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN).
R00TK1T now gives authorities 12 hours to issue a statement on the data vulnerability that occurred today. The group threatened that failure to follow these instructions would result in 27GB of stolen data being leaked to the web arena. The announcement was made by R00TK1T through the Telegram channel.
The screenshot shared by R00TK1T shows several copies of MyKad and documents in a Windows operating system folder. The LPPKN has not yet issued an official statement regarding the validity of the claim that their database has been successfully penetrated by hackers. R00TK1T labels themselves as a group of hacktivists who hack to reveal security vulnerabilities in organizations' IT infrastructure.
For information, although there is a folder called PADU in the hack shown, it is not the Main Database System (PADU) that has been the focus lately, instead it is under LPPKN.
