Samsung Folding Screen Receives MIL-STD 810G Rugged Standard

Samsung announced that their foldable screen panel has passed the MIL-STD 810G standard. This is the level of military standards previously assigned to the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active2. The 7″ panel that passes this standard is the same one used on the Galaxy Z Fold5 as well as the 7.6″ Flex In&Out panel that can fold 360 degrees.

The folding screen was tested with a water spray at a temperature of -10°C which produced a 6mm layer. It is also tested at temperatures as low as -32°C and as high as 63°C. This extreme test was performed three times within 12 hours.

It also withstands the impact of being dropped 26 times from a height of 1.22 meters and is also subjected to tests placed in a centrifugal machine that is rotated until the pressure reaches 10.5 times gravity. With this certification, Samsung became the first folding panel manufacturer to pass the MIL-STD 810G standard that qualifies it for use in military devices.
