Signal Messaging App Introduces Username Support

Signal, one of the messaging apps with a focus on privacy and security, today announced the introduction of username support – while protecting phone numbers from being made public.

With this step, it simultaneously protects user information more than is known to many. Signal will still display the phone number to those who already have your phone number saved in their phone or address book.

Using a username also allows you to share messaging information on Signal without having to give out your phone number to anyone.

This new feature is in beta, and will be rolled out to everyone in stages. For those of you who are interested, you can download and try Signal today on your mobile device.
