Sony Launches 5G Module For Digital Cameras For Fast Data Transfer To The Cloud

5G technology is used for self-driving systems, high-resolution video streaming and video games on mobile devices with low latency. Now it is also used by Sony to speed up the process of sending pictures from a camera. The Sony PDT-FP1 5G transmitter is designed to send captured images directly to a personal FTP browser at lightning speed.

It is equipped with a 6.1″ OLED touch screen that is matched to a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, 256GB storage and a 5000 mAh battery. According to Sony, this 5G module can operate continuously for up to four hours on a single charge. There are USB-C, HDMI and LAN connections. Interestingly, it also runs the Android 13 operating system. In general, the PDT-FP1 is a 5G device that does not have phone call support or a camera.

At this time, support for storing images directly using the FT protocol only supports services offered by Sony. The Sony PDT-FP1 is sold at a price of 59,500 Yen (~RM 1906) each.
