The Apple Vision Pro Battery Uses a Wider Lightning Connection

Apple Vision Pro review videos started appearing yesterday showing its unique capabilities and some rather tragic shortcomings. The most obvious drawback is the battery pack that needs to be connected using a long cable all the time. This cable was initially thought not to be removable from the battery pack. But actually it can be removed using the SIM pin revealing a strange head connection.

The "male" head on the cable looks like Lightning but is almost twice as wide. This is the first time a Lightning head like this has been used on an Apple device. Previously, a Lightning-like connection but much shorter was also found on the Apple AirPods Max. On social media the extension on the Vision Pro is nicknamed Lightning Plus because of its larger size.

USB-C connection is only supported on the auxiliary charging port on the side of the battery pack. With this, Vision Pro owners can use this "spatial computing" headset longer than the life of around 2-4 hours only using the battery pack. Also revealed is the Vision Pro's battery has a small capacity of 3166 mAh. Apple Vision Pro is only sold in the United States at this time.
