Transformation of 'Beyond Zero' Becomes UMW Toyota's Initiative Towards Carbon Neutral By 2050

In line with Toyota's global goal of becoming Carbon Neutral by 2050, Toyota has held a 'Toyota Beyond Zero' event that is open to the public from 20 to 28 February at the Malaysian Technology Park which simultaneously showcases Toyota's transformation initiative towards the production of products that environmentally friendly and low carbon ecosystem.

The Toyora Beyond Zero event was officiated by the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz. He praised the efforts displayed by UMW Toyota in realizing sustainable practices and environmental conservation.

Through this event, various types of electrification technologies including Hybrid Electric Vehicles, Battery Electric Vehicles and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles are on display. All electrified vehicles on display indirectly prove the latest automotive sustainability in featuring design elements and advanced technology that can reduce the negative impact on humans and the environment.

Among the electric vehicles exhibited for the HEV category are Corolla Cross, Prius 24H Le Mans Centennial GR Edition HEV and several other vehicles such as Alphard 2.5L HEV, Innova Zenix 2.0L HEV, Camry 2.5L HEV and Vellfire 2.5L HEV.

Not only that, what is more interesting is that this event also showcased the SORA bus where it is a bus powered by hydrogen fuel which puts it in the FCEV category just like Mirai and GranAce. The SORA bus is driven with the help of hydrogen gas that reacts with oxygen and generates electricity and powers the electric motor and will only emit water as a result of the reaction.

Starting from hybrid electric vehicles, battery electric vehicles to hydrogen fuel cell technology, all explain the concept of 'Beyond Zero' which shows Toyota's determination and commitment to foster a green and low-carbon ecosystem for all Malaysians. It is hoped that the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by the year 2050 will be realized for the sake of mutual well-being.
