WhatsApp is one of the most popular communication mediums in Malaysia, and it still uses phone numbers for registration purposes. However, in the future, this may change soon.
Through the latest WABetaInfo sharing, WhatsApp is seen to continue testing the use of usernames as an alternative to phone numbers. This at the same time allows users to communicate with each other using usernames only - more or less like on Telegram.
For now, it is still in the testing stage, and it is not yet known when this feature will be officially introduced to the public.
