Xiaomi is now issuing a warning, informing users not to use "Liquid UV" type screen protectors on Redmi phones. This is because when using the screen protector, the adhesive used may flow to the physical keys, charging port, speaker hole and battery protector – all at once impacting the use of the device.
Using this indirectly is also expected to lead to some problems including the device starting randomly, buttons not being fully usable, sound on the speaker, and so on.
Xiaomi also stated that the use of "Liquid UV" screen protectors can void the device's warranty, and is no longer protected.
As an alternative, Xiaomi encourages users to use "Tempered Glass" type screen protectors, and others that do not use liquid-type adhesives.
