After Trouble With TikTok, Universal Music Expands Collaboration With Spotify

More and more continue to leak from TikTok because of the trouble with Universal Music Group (UMG). TikTok reportedly doesn't want to pay for licenses at a fair price and dump new artists' music. Recently, UMG announced that they are expanding their collaboration with Spotify for artists and lyricists to promote and interact with fans.

First UMG artists will be able to pre-release their new music and fans can pre-save while waiting for the actual release date. UMG will also continue to work with Spotify on other social tools that will make it easier for fans to discover new music from favorite artists.

With Spotify starting to support music videos, Universal will also license Spotify to distribute their artists' music videos in the United States. UMG is the label holder for artists such as Siti Nurhaliza, Joe Flizzow, P Ramlee, Ella, Dewa 19, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, SZA, Drake, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Adele, and Coldplay. For now it is still uncertain whether UMG will expand the new feature to external Spotify users
