Akira Toriyama's Technology World We Want To Be A Reality

Prominent mangaka Akira Toriyama passed away on March 1st. Through the official announcement of the Bird Studio account, the deceased died at the age of 68 due to acute subdural hematoma. His death was mourned not only by Japanese manga fans but also the international comic world because of his involvement in legendary comics such as Dr. Slump, Dragon Quest, Sand Land and who is not familiar with Dragon Ball.

I received the news of Toriyama-sama's death as soon as I landed in San Francisco from Las Vegas a little while ago. Shocked because he was one of the idols while still having a runny nose and his works colored my life for more than 30 years.

You might wonder what Toriyama has to do with technology? My answer is simple. Many fictional technologies in comics, TV series and movies inspired the technology we use today. So let me write about some of the technologies featured in Akira Toriyama's manga that I really want to become a reality.

CAPSULE PILLS

From the very first issue of the Dragon Ball manga managed to capture my attention. A modern world and we are introduced to Bulma who wants to find the Dragon Pearl. As the daughter of a rich scientist who invented capsule technology, Bulma is free to do whatever she wants without worrying about the future. The capsule technology that Bulma's father created is one that I have wanted to become a reality for a long time.

Imagine the application in the real world. We don't need polluting cargo ships to ship millions of tons of intercontinental cargo. The package of goods purchased from the online store is only the size of a capsule pill. No need to worry about expensive shipping because the items purchased are expensive. If you go on vacation, you don't have to worry about the small luggage space in the car or on the plane. Everything again can fit in a pill capsule that can be kept in just a trouser pocket.

FLIZA MEDICAL TANK

It would be great if the Fliza change tank also became a reality. Any injuries can be treated quickly. This is very useful for old people like me who now take a long time to recover from any form of injury and illness. Involved in a bad accident? Measles in the tank. Covid? Tank. Cancer? Tank. What cannot be treated through Dragon Ball lore are serious injuries such as severed limbs.

There must be some who say that this tank is just an imitation of the Bacta Tank from the Star Wars movie which is also unable to restore Luke Skywalker's severed hand. The only difference is that the Fliza Tank heals any injuries faster. Keep one at home for personal use. There is no need to buy Panadol, Chi Kit Teck Aun pills, cough medicine for mothers & children, spirulina juice or Edimium bracelets to ensure the health of the body is maintained.

SCOUT

Who doesn't want a Scout machine? The one who raises the hands of all the liars. This is a machine that launched over 9000 memes since it was introduced in me Goku vs. Bezita The power of every individual in the world can be scanned in an instant. How is this useful in the real world? Avoid being mobbed when fighting with an unknown individual. Before being injured and beaten, run away first if you see their "fighting power" is higher.

Actually, Scout already "exists" in the form of Oppo AIr Glass which I reviewed a few years ago. In fact, when Google Glass was shown by Sergey Brin in 2012, many felt it looked like a Scout.

ROLLING CLOUDS

Ok rolling clouds aren't technology per se but it's another thing I've wanted ever since it was introduced in the Dragon Ball comics. It does not require batteries to operate. Does not produce air pollution and can move quickly through the air. It is a solution to the traffic jams that humanity living in major cities is facing.

Because rolling clouds can only be used by people with a "holy heart" like Goku, we won't have the problem of "cloud bullying" or any users who don't have consideration for their feelings when driving on the road. It is the transportation of choice for humans. The despicable can continue to drive on busy roads.

I know this list might focus too much on Dragon Ball only but the truth is that it is the only manga/anime series that is widely known. There is interesting technology from Dr. Slump, Kajika, Sand Land and many more but with the sudden death of Akira Toriyama and I work from the airport terminal only this can be composed at this time.

Thank you Akira Toriyama for creating a work that really has an impact on generation X and above. Goodbye and happy walking on the Dragon Road.
