AMD Will Upgrade Their FidelityFX Super Resolution Technology With AI This Year

AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution super resolution upgrade feature is a gaming technology where AMD graphics cards will use internal resources to process computer graphics with high graphics settings at low resolution, and then upgrade the resolution afterwards.

In theory, this can reduce the graphics processing load on a graphics card but still maintain the ability to play games at higher resolutions and frame rates to save power.

Recently, AMD CTO Mark Papermaster has announced that this year, the recently introduced FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 feature will receive another technological upgrade, this time in terms of using artificial intelligence to help users not only run games at higher resolutions, but also with more graphic details.

This upgrade will be more visible through AMD's new APU processing chips for desktop computers and laptops which now house XDNA AI neural chips. the component can be used to activate artificial intelligence processes to add graphic details in the game along with the graphics component that will process the frames in the game.

There are many details yet to be revealed about the implementation of this AI technology, such as how it will be used to further improve the quality of the graphics in the game, but the public's expectation is that it will use data from neural networks to make predictions about the details that need to be added to the game frame, similar to what NVIDIA DLSS does.
