Last year we reported that Apple wanted to use its own designed screen, battery and camera sensor. But Mark Gurman a few days ago told Apple has canceled its own screen development project. Instead will focus on microLED panels as in previous reports.
MicroLED screens on Apple products do not yet exist but are planned for the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch Ultra. This new report explains that Apple has simply canceled the development of its own screen for the Apple Watch but will continue to focus on the development of microLED screens. Who knows LG will be chosen as the main supplier.
It is now uncertain what the fate of the development of own screens for iPhone, iPad and Mac will be. Let's all look forward to Apple's new screen technology which is claimed to be more resistant than OLED and less prone to burn-in screen problems.
