Apple Makes It Easier for iPhone Users to Switch to Android Later This Year

The process of moving from Android to iOS is easy because of the existence of the Move to iOS application. But the process of leaving iPhone to move to Android is more complicated despite the existence of the Switch to Android app. In a document published by Apple to comply with the requirements of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) in the European Union (EU), they confirmed that this process will be simplified by the end of 2024 or early 2025.

Although announced for the EU, this easier data transfer process to Android is accessible to all users. They also confirmed that at the end of this year, users can directly remove Safari from the iPhone if it is not needed because they are using another web browser. A system of transferring data from one web browser to another web browser will also be present by early 2025 at the latest.

Apple has just been fined over RM9 billion by the EU for failing to comply with all DMA requirements, particularly in the control of the App Store. They have to comply with EU requirements because Europe is one of the world's leading markets. EU strictures are the reason the iPhone 15 now all use USB-C.
