Apple now continues to introduce several new methods for the distribution of applications in the European region, in parallel with the new legislation in force there. In addition to allowing alternative third-party application stores in addition to the Apple App Store, Apple has now announced that application developers will also be able to distribute applications directly through their respective official websites.
This at the same time provides an alternative application distribution method that is not tied to the application store, but instead allows developers to offer applications for download directly from the developer's web.
Apple will provide a specific API for that purpose, including some settings for payments and others. However, Apple states that developers must meet certain criteria, including being a member of the Apple Developer Program for more than 2 years, and having an app with more than one million installations in Europe. Distributed applications must also go through a web domain that has been registered with App Store Connect.
With this latest development, we may hear some more new things for the distribution of applications in the European region by Apple.
