Canva Wins Cyber Squatting Case of 174 Domain Names Against Malaysian Entrepreneurs

Canva is a website that provides various types of graphic design services for logos, advertisement flyers, Instagram Stories and so on. This site also offers various templates that can be obtained for free or paid. The Canva service is popular enough in Malaysia that some have turned it into a place to make a living by selling templates.

There are many ways to get Canva templates. Some sell on Shopee, some sell on their own website. Most recently, Canva has submitted a dispute with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) because it found that there are 174 domain names using the Canva name that are used for cybersquatting.

All 174 domain names such as bijakcanva3030.com, bisnescanva.com, boscanva.com, brocanva.com were found to be registered through CloudFlare, GoDaddy, Hello Internet Corp and more on November 9, 2022 and August 8, 2023. Although there are many domain names, under investigation Canva is all run by a Malaysian entrepreneur, Ubaidullah Jaafar from Mastery Success.

In this case, Canva is seen as more of a warning and continues to block the access of domain names that access their website. In my review, Ubaidullah's Facebook page, Mastery Success, is still operational and active. He also still runs a business selling Canva templates, teaching people how to create businesses and helping people build websites with Canva.
