CelcomDigi And SES Announce Collaboration To Explore Satellite Communication Services

CelcomDigi has now signed a memorandum of understanding with SES, and will jointly explore methods of providing satellite connectivity using SES's MEO (Medium-Earth-Orbit) and GEO (Geosynchronous Equatorial Orbit) satellites for businesses and communities in Malaysia.

This collaboration will allow both parties to explore the development of local gateways for satellite communication services (SatCom).

SES today operates 70 satellites, of which 26 are MEO satellites. It orbits at an altitude of 8000km, to provide high-performance virtual connectivity anywhere in the world.

CelcomDigi is expected to explore methods to offer connectivity services such as 4G, 5G, SDWAN, and managed WiFi, through SES satellite technology.
