As the IT world is currently undergoing a paradigm shift to the widespread use of artificial intelligence and the virtual world, CelcomDigi has introduced CelcomDigi Metaversity, an innovative learning module developed together with the Ministry of Higher Education and virtual technology companies VIRNECT and XRA to drive institutional learning local higher education in related technologies.
CelcomDigi Metaversity breathes new life into higher education through the application of cutting-edge technology, such as metaverse, XR, AI, robotics, and 5G in its virtual learning module, to enable students to experience a virtual digital learning experience for themselves, and strengthen their technical expertise in high-demand skills this.
A total of 10 universities namely Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UTM), Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), MAHSA University, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), and Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), have also pledged their commitment to adopt CelcomDigi Metaversity's immersive learning module.
During the CelcomDigi Metaversity launch event, students from universities such as APU, UKM and UTeM showed technology demos developed in two months as a proof of concept of how this syllabus can help students and graduates to prepare themselves on how the IT and engineering industry will formed in the future.
Apart from the syllabus, CelcomDigi will also offer their 5G network and connected device equipment (IoT) to facilitate the learning process of university students.
CelcomDigi's Metaversity initiative started in September 2023 through collaboration with VIRNECT and XRA to develop experiential learning and education using Metaverse, for universities in Malaysia.
